My feed is constantly filled with Downton Abbey
I seriously don’t get it. The Georgian/Victorian/Edwardian periods were not good times to be alive if you were:
- Female
- Non-white
- Poor
- Disabled
- Homosexual
- Infirm
- Mentally ill
- Pretty much everything else except highborn white and male.
Why do people (many of whom fit one or more categories above) fawn over period drama.
Serious I DON’T EVEN.
Because some people are capable of enjoying TV drama without making it a highbrow discussion about -isms, -ists and “privilege”.
